Medicare 2027 plan check
Is Your Medicare Plan Ending in 2027?
Every year, some Medicare plans do not come back. Type the plan number from your Medicare Advantage or drug plan card. We'll check it against CMS's 2027 plan list and tell you what we found.

Annual Enrollment: October 15 to December 7
Every fall, anyone on Medicare can change their Medicare Advantage or drug plan. Any change you make starts January 1. If you do nothing, your plan usually renews as is, even if its costs, network, or drug list changed. That is why a yearly review matters.
What happens if your plan is not on the 2027 list
You'll get a letter
Your plan mails a letter in the fall if it is ending or changing. It tells you what is changing and what to do next. Keep it handy.
You pick a new plan during Annual Enrollment
Between October 15 and December 7, you can choose a new Medicare Advantage plan, a drug plan, or go back to Original Medicare. Your new plan starts January 1.
You may get extra time
When a Medicare Advantage plan leaves, you may get a Special Enrollment Period. That can give you time to choose even after December 7. Your letter will say if this applies to you.
If you do nothing
What happens depends on your plan. Some people are moved to another plan from the same company. Others go back to Original Medicare, which may leave you without drug coverage. It is better to choose on purpose.
What to review before December 7
Your drugs against the plan's drug list
Plans update their drug lists each year. Check that every medication you take is still covered, and at what tier, at the pharmacy you use.
Your doctors and hospitals
Networks change. Make sure your doctors, specialists, and hospital are still in network for next year, not just this year.
Your total yearly cost, not just the premium
Add up the premium, deductibles, copays, and drug costs. A plan with a low premium can cost more over a year if you use a lot of care.
Extra benefits that changed
Dental, vision, hearing, and other extras can shrink or grow from year to year. Read your Annual Notice of Change, which plans mail each fall.

Common questions
How do I find my Medicare plan number?
Look at the member ID card from your Medicare Advantage or drug plan. The plan number starts with H, R or S, then four numbers, a dash, and three more numbers, like H1234-005. It is also on letters from your plan.
What if my plan is not on the 2027 list?
Your plan will send you a letter this fall. You can pick a new plan between October 15 and December 7, and it starts January 1. If your Medicare Advantage plan is leaving, you may also get extra time to choose. Your letter will explain your options.
My plan has a new number. Do I need to do anything?
Often you move to the new plan on your own. But the new plan can have different doctors, drugs, or costs. Read your letter and your Annual Notice of Change before December 7.
When will I know for sure what happens to my plan?
CMS posts a list in October that shows where members of each changing plan are moved. Your plan's letter will also tell you. Until then, this check shows whether your plan number is on CMS's 2027 list.
Why can't the checker find my plan?
Plans through a former employer or union are not on CMS's public list. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans are not either, because they do not use these plan numbers. Check the number on your card, or give us a call and we'll look it up with you.
